FSD in Puerto Rico.
What you need to know.
Whether it works here, what it costs, what our roads throw at it and whether to update. Answers from the driver's seat, not a press release.
Does FSD work in Puerto Rico?
Yes. I test it daily on Puerto Rico roads in my Model Y (HW4). The newest version reviewed here is FSD v14.3.12, released Oct 22, 2026, scored 7.8/10. Read the review →
How well does it drive here?
In the v14.3.12 review, FSD drove 97% of 10.35 miles with 3 interventions. In total there are 10 documented trips (about 912 miles), each with its interventions on the record. See the trips →
What do the island's roads throw at it?
Potholes and patches, unpainted speed bumps, roundabouts, dead-end streets, unmarked lanes and drivers who skip their turn signals. Every review scores this in its own category, "PR roads", so you can see whether a version improves on what affects us most. How it is scored →
Is it worth updating now?
For v14.3.12 my call is "Update with care": Real gains in parking and speed bumps; watch the navigation on dead-end streets. Compare with v14.3.9 →
How much does FSD cost in Puerto Rico?
The same as the rest of the US: today it is subscription only, at $99 a month (price as of October 2026). Tesla dropped the one-time purchase in February 2026. You subscribe and cancel from the Tesla app. Current price at Tesla →
Does it work on HW3 or only HW4?
Both. The subscription requires HW3 or newer, but HW3 runs an older FSD version: HW4 builds arrive first and bring improvements HW3 does not get. Everything published here is tested on HW4.
Do new versions reach Puerto Rico at the same time?
Yes. Puerto Rico gets the same update waves as the rest of the US. Tesla rolls them out in stages, so two cars can get the same version days apart.
Does the car drive itself?
No. It is FSD (Supervised): the driver must watch the road and is responsible at all times, the same as the rest of the US. An intervention is when I have to take over.
How is each version evaluated?
With the same questionnaire for every version (FSD Score 2.0): 10 categories and 9 safety questions that cap the score when they fail. That is what makes one version comparable with the last. See the method →
